WMF2EPS was developed for earlier Windows versions with XP as the latest. The need for WMF2EPS was decreasing continuously, and so, with the upcoming Windows Vista about 2 years ago, so I decided not to make that update step with WMF2EPS. (it was mainly the PS printer driver interface which had changed from XP to Vista).
However, some people liked to continue working with WMF2EPS even under Windows Vista and -B. van Dongen- sent me files for installing the "old" XP PostScript driver to Vista for the WMF2EPS virtual printer, thank you very much !
If you are interested in running WMF2EPS under Vista (either
the x86 or the 64bit version) you can perform the following steps in
order to install the WMF2EPS and its virtual printer:
- install (unpack) WMF2EPS to some directory (typ. %ProgramFiles%\WMF2EPS)
- make a new subfolder %ProgramFiles%\WMF2EPS\PSprint\Vista)
- download Vista_x86.INF (for Vista x86) or Vista_x64.INF (for Vista 64)
- copy the WMF2EPS2.PPD file from the WMF2EPS\PSprint\Win2000\Standard subfolder to the .\Vista subfolder)
- from an existing WMF2EPS installation under Windows XP copy the 4 PS driver files PS5UI.DLL, PSCRIPT.HLP, PSCRIPT.NTF, PSCRIPT5.DLL (these are typically located under XP-%windir%\system32\spool\drivers) to the .\Vista subfolder. (I cannot provide these files for download here, since the PS driver is copyrighted software)
- for Vista 64 you need 3 other files to copy to the .\Vista subfolder: PSCRPTFE.NTF, PS_SCHM.GDL and run64.exe. (at the moment I don't know where to get these files)
- continue installing the virtual printer as described in the WMF2EPS help-file, let Windows search for a driver in the .\Vista subfolder.
I tested this procedure successfully on a Windows Vista Ultimate x86 system.
